Whitley County Trial Courts
Indiana does not use a Texas-style district court for ordinary county trial cases. Whitley County's primary local trial courts are Whitley Circuit Court and Whitley Superior Court. Whitley County litigants do not use a local Indiana "district court" for ordinary state trial cases. Whitley County Specialty Courts
Whitley County also has problem-solving and treatment resources connected to the trial-court ecosystem. Veterans Treatment Court began preparation in 2016 for implementation as a problem-solving court. The Jail Chemical Addiction Program is housed in the Whitley County Detention Center. Its mission is to provide evidence-based treatment, education, and support to incarcerated people with substance-use disorders. Whitley County Court Access
For public court access, the first split is between a search and an official copy. A search can start online through Indiana MyCase or in person at a public computer in the Clerk's office. A copy request goes to the Clerk or File Management, depending on the age and type of record. A certified copy requires an official custodian because certification is not a database screenshot or a search result.
Courthouse users should expect the building layout described in the county facility listing. The Clerk is on the second floor, the prosecutor is on the second floor, and both trial courts are on the third floor. Note: Circuit Court and Superior Court both close for lunch from noon to 1:00 p.m., and the Clerk office also closes during that lunch hour.
